Why do most pet owners prefer to have male dog instead of female dog?

The majority of pet dogs are males. Why? i have always kept female dogs. I think they are extremely loving and loyal.

1. I prefer male dogs. They are easier to train, have more stable temperaments, and are more loving.
2. Wrong! Most have and want females. That's why females cost more.
3. because males dont have puppies is prob the answer.. However in my house, i have 3 boys and 4 girls...and the girls are more or less as affectionate as the boys..
4. I don't know that it's true. I have a female myself. People looking to get into showing and then maybe breeding often prefer a female though, which might leave more males in a litter available as pets I suppose.
5. because the males do not get pregnant. They do not seem to realize a female won't if she is spayed. Where we live, everyone wants a female because the male will mark his territory. Too many people want the females just to breed also

7. If you are referring to the ordinary everyday fly by night pet owner it is because females get pregnant if they are not spayed. Spaying costs more than neutering. Males cannot get pregnant which gives people an 'out' for not neutering. But, if you are referring to RESPONSIBLE pet owners I think it is pretty even. I have 8 dogs and 3 of them are females. But they are rescued so I don't care about whether they are male or female. Either way, they get fixed.
8. Because people think males are easier. If you spayed a female, she would be just as good as a nueterd male. It's just some weird thing people get in their heads.
9. my family has always had dogs, for some reason the females always took to the guys and the males always took to the girls. some people find males easier to keep so they dont risk having a litter. but you should always get your pet fixed! also many feel that a male will be more protective then a female. personal preference when finding a dog. a puppy will always pick you, not the other way around. lol
10. It's actually the opposite. That's why female dogs cost most. I far prefer female dogs. They've always been very sweet and loyal.
11. Males tend to share everyone but females do tend to love one person a lot more. Plus people don't want hassel with puppies.
