How can I pet my dog without getting a static electric shock?

It's very cold and dry lately and whenever I pet my dog we both get a shock. She is a siberian husky with thick fur. Every time...Ouch!

  1. moist your hands before contact with your pet. water/ moisturiser etc.
  2. Carry a spray bottle of warm water, and spray him before you pet him! ;)
  3. rub his entire fur coat with a couple of bounce fabric dryer sheets...it will take away most static and leave his coat smelling fresh.
  4. Use a dryer sheet to thoroughly rub your pet down. Then use conditioner in his next bath. Give him an extra pat for me.
  5. Yep,dryer sheets will work ! Just rub his coat down with one every couple days. It will make him smell good, too!
  6. Based on what I'm reading, a simpler solution seems to be to take off your rubber soled shoes that are building static electricity from your carpet.
  7. rub her and yur hands with a bounce (or other) dryer sheet, or put lotion on your hands before you pet her
