  1. Mysister gave up a dog she got as a puppy at the pound. He was such a sweet mutt, but as he grew he became very nasty and attacked a child as well as a leashed dog outside. None of her other dogs had any behaviour problems short of taking up too much room on the bed. The vet said the dog was part pit-bull and could never be trusted after his repeated attacks, so she had no choice. We gave up a cat that wouldn't use the litter box. You can't keep a cat like that, and he was too unhappy being kept closed in our room. We gave him to someone who could let him run outside a lot.
  2. I'd never given up a pet, but I see many ppl daily asking if we could adopt their pet or where to go to find a new home. In my experience, seems like destructive behavior (clawing on everything), not getting along w other cats, allergies, and house soiling are top on that list for cats in that order. Sorry I can't help you w specific numbers. Destructive behavior/no time to train dog, barking, and too hard to housetrain are the top for dogs. At least that seems to be my experience... you may want to go to your local shelter see what they say. Hope this helps
  3. We rescue a lot of animals and find them new homes In one scenario, there was a lady whose cancer started to act up again and could not care for her cat any longer. We went to the lady's home and picked it up for her and took care of the cat until we found it a home. There was another scenario where we rescued a brindle colored boxer and the reason why this dog was given to us was because it had attacked and killed a smaller dog at a vet's office fighting over a dog bone Another scenario was that we picked up a blond cocker spaniel and found that the owner had dropped him because he (the dog) had too many medical issues. The cocker spaniel had seizures and other medical conditions We rescued a blk cocker that had went through 6 homes at 6 months old and came all of the way from south Carolina and was CKC registered. It seemed as if no one had anytime for him and an elderly church member gave him to us. Someone gave us a Pomeranian to rescue due to them having to move Someone gave us a Yorkie because they did not have time for the dog anymore Someone else gave us a Bichon because it was just a run away dog and they did not have time for the dog any more. The stories just go on and on but for the most part we found that it was either an owner issue or the dog had medical problems and could no longer be cared for.

  5. My husband and I bought a two chihuahuas and was going to breed them. But after about 6 months I got pregnant and the female chihuahua was jealous and started chewing on my clothes that smelled like my breast milk and even my underwear because it had a different smell on it. So I waited til after the baby was born to see if it stopped and it didn't she only started chewing on the baby's clothes. So I gave her to a friend of mine and she's a happy healthy dog even to today. As for the male chihuahua we kept him for two more years until he got a horrible case of the fleas and I tried everything including medicine and so I gave him to another friend of mine. And most recently i had to have a dog put down because it got the mange.
  6. i've only ever given up one of my pets. my female cat had a litter of kittens and once we had homes for them....even before they were picked up.....she attacked my mom and left five deep holes in her hand. my son was just over a year at the time and i couldn't take the chance of her swatting at him and hurting him and then having to be put down. i loved her so much that i had to let her go.
