Is there any reason why cats should not wear dog collars?
On the packing it stated, not for use by cats? Why?

- how big is your cat?! If it's a chain...no...
- Cats have a tendency to get themselves caught on something by the collar. They need a safety collar that breaks away when they get caught. That's why. Good question!
- Cats tend to climb and get places they can get stuck. If you go to a good pet supply and look at cat collars - they all have the break away feature. Using a dog collar COULD cause your cat harm if he were to fall or get stuck. Better to just get a cat collar.
- Cat collars usually have a safety clip on them, which allows the collar to become undone if the cat gets it caught on something - like a plant/bush. Also, cat collars are more stretchy (for the same reason). A lot of people let their cats go outdoors on their own, and cats have a tendency to get into small places, so having these safety features on the cat's collar prevents them from getting it caught, and getting stuck, or possibly strangled.
- Most cat collars have a break away section in case the cat were to get caught on something. Dog collars don't have that.
- except they may be to big. Try a puppy size one and those expandable ones 'cause cats you just never know.
