Is metal dog collars considered as a Choke collars ? what is a choke collar used for?

how can i place it around my dogs neck if both of its ends are the same ( closed circle) ?

What you describe isn't a choke collar.A choke collar looks like a chain with two larger links at each end.To put it on your dog you need to loop the chain through one of the larger links forming a circle.Practice on your wrist before putting it on the dog.As the dog pulls on it it tightens thus making it uncomfortable for the dog,hence the name choke collar.This in time stops him pulling on the lead.Hope this helps.
3. No, there are different kinds of 'metal' collars. The two main ones are the prong and the choke. Both are used for obedience training. check out the links below for more info. remember: NEVER use a prong or choke collar as a regular collar. Take the off when you are done with your training session.
4. A choke collar differs from a normal collar, it doesn't fix a lead to a collar, the lead goes round the dogs neck through a chain link. If the dog pulls it tightens round the neck, supposedly teaching it not to pull. These are no substitute for training and teaching a dog to walk to heel.

8. well some people call them choke collers as they can get tight on a dogs throat ! when they pull, but it can help if your dog pulls when it is taken for a walk !
