What kind of dog food can have more fiber in for a cocker spaniel ?

I heard that dog food with corn in is bad for dogs. And they recommeded all bran cereal, but she won't eat. And canned pumpkin,she will eat. And our dog always has to have her glands cleaned out, or expressed. She is always scooting and have to go to vet.

1. You can add canned pumpkin, green beans and unflavored metamucil to her food to add fiber.
2. Yeah, dog food with corn is not great for dogs yet most dog foods have a bunch of different corn products. I recently switched to Innova because I was using Pro Plan and I couldn't believe all the corn in it. I had the problem with the scooting and my vet suggested using Cheerios to increase the amount of fiber my dog receives.
3. Try feeding her a home made diet. Commercial dog food should all be pulled from the market until all the contaminants are known and all product is domestic and monitored for quality and contamination. I started feeding mine homemade and they are thriving on it. It includes fiber. 1 cup meat (chicken with skin and fat, de-boned) or venison, or lamb, sometimes turkey 1/4 cup mixed veggies (green beans and carrots or spinach, peas, kale, asparagus) 1/4 cup yam, or white potato, or rice in a.m., one cup oatmeal and once a week, organic cheerios with yogurt. 1/4 cup (3x wk) of slightly steamed cranberry, mashed and added to food. (I just rinse, boil water, put them in and cover, turn it off and let sit about five minutes.) 2x week 1/3 small can of pumpkin pie filling. Supplements: Fish Oil caps for dogs with Omega 3, Vit A, D and E (or Norwegian Cod Liver Oil) I make the food up one week in advance and package in freezer bags that can be set out the night before to defrost. They love this, they are healthy. I got this diet from a woman that had three dogs (1 chihuahua and three German Shepherds- on different portion amounts of course) and they had all been on prescription diets and were sickly until she went to a Vet that was familiar with nutrition. Also one raw egg 3x week. I rinse, dry and then grind shells and add this to their food as well. Mine get sliced and cubed 1/3 cup beef heart, raw, 3x week. This is an excellent source of Taurine. 4. If your issue is with your dog's anal sacs, then changing diet is not going to do anything to help the situation. Your best bet is to actually have them surgically removed and this will eliminate the cause of all the scooting and the trips to the vet to have them expressed. As for the fiber, just go to the store and check all the labels. Dog food labels have fiber content on them.
